Flight 3407 Memorial Fundraiser

On February 12, 2009 Flight 3407 of Colgan Air crashed in Clarence Center, NY.  All 50 people on the plane and one on the ground died as a result of this tragedy.  In memory of these victims and everyone affected by this tragedy, The Flight 3407 Memorial 5K Race was founded by The Flight 3407 Fundraiser Committee.

The first annual race and fundraising event took place on June 13, 2009.  The event raised just over $50,000 and was considered a tremendous success! The majority of the money will be donated to the construction of a future, yet to be determined memorial site in Clarence Center, NY.

In September, 2009, The Flight 3407 Memorial Fundraiser Committee donated $5,000.00 to the Clarence Community Association.  This association orchestrated the building and dedication of a clock at the corner Goodrich Rd. and Clarence Center Rd. This clock is located right in the heart of Clarence Center and has been dedicated to the memory of Flight 3407. The clock is a beautiful addition to Clarence Center.  

This year, the second annual Flight 3407 Memorial 5K Race will be held on Saturday, June 5th, 2010.  The event will take place at the Town Place Park, 1 Town Place, Clarence, NY, 14031.  The sanctioned 5K will start at 9:30am and the 1 mile Fun Run will start at 10am.  Immediately following the races, a party will be held in the park. Proceeds will benefit Remember Flight 3407, Inc. and will go towards the construction of a Flight 3407 memorial site and any families directly affected by the Flight 3407 tragedy that are in need of assistance.

This race will give many the opportunity to meet with friends, families and people throughout Western New York that do not want to forget what happened in Clarence Center, NY on the night of February 12, 2009.  It will allow all who attend to honor those who were lost from this tragedy and continue the healing process on a personal level.
